The WESP project team has set itself the ambitious goal of developing a rocket that can fly over 100 km high and reach space – a mission they call “Spaceshot.”
Designing a Spaceshot vehicle means rethinking almost all components from scratch: engines, structure, avionics, stage separation mechanisms, and recovery systems. Every aspect of the mission profile drives the designs forward, whether it's sending live data over such a distance or the intense aerodynamic heating and pressure loading of the structure.
Intensive work is currently underway on this. The TUM University Foundation is supporting this project and eagerly awaits the results.
