What inspired us to contribute

The Technical University of Munich inspires people for a number of reasons. Here are some examples of what motivated our donors.

Dr. Christian Kohlpaintner

„The elite are the drivers of progress and prosperity. Top universities need the financial means to not just educate the elite, but also to foster a sense of responsibility. That is why I, as a TUM alumnus, am supporting the University Foundation as one of the founding donors.“

Honorary Senator Roland Lacher

„We need the brightest scientists and engineers if our country is to continue competing successfully on the international stage. I see it as both an honor and a duty as a founding donor to support TUM both in its academic education of young students and in its mission to achieve excellence. I owe my own successful career to the training I received at TUM.“

Honorary Senator Ingeborg Pohl

"I have a particular interest in promoting dialog between men and women in science. That is why I have provided an endowment so that women students and scientists can attend events at the TUM Science and Study Center Raitenhaslach. Cooperation between the sexes is the best way to achieve useful and productive results for everybody.” "

"Ich habe der TUM viel zu verdanken. Nun erlebe ich, mit welchem Engagement und welcher Begeisterung Führung, Professoren und Mitarbeiter die Hochschule voranbringen und mit ausgezeichneter Forschung und Lehre die Zukunft mitgestalten. Es ist mir eine große Freude, die TUM dabei als Stifter zu unterstützen. Ich bin überzeugt, dass mein Erbe und das meiner Schwester an der TUM optimalen Nutzen bringen werden.“

"In times of crisis, university education and scientific discourse can and should also be carried out online, as our future lies in the qualification and performance capabilities of young talents. For this reason, the BMW Group is supporting the Technical University of Munich with one million Euros in order to ensure the near-term establishment of capacities and infrastructure for the extensive digitalisation of  teaching contents."
